FEBRUARY 2012

Friday, February 17 to Saturday, February 25, 2012

EVENT:
[MM] Astra Dance Company presents: Edgar Allen Poe's Eleonora at The El Portal Theatre
(in City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, State of California, USA, Earth)

TIME(S): See Below
DATE(S): Friday, February 17 to Saturday, February 25, 2012

DESCRIPTION
Eleonora is an intense performance of dance, music and projections where two stories of passion and redemption are told upon the stage.

Edgar Allan Poe and Clive Barker are writers known for their vivid imaginations and macabre stylings. Both have an undercurrent of great passion in their elaborate stories.

In telling the story of “Eleonora”, it is important to note that this is Poe’s only story where love is rewarded and the hero is redeemed at the end of his tale. Unique and stirring, this passionate play is set to dance and theatrics by the careful direction of David Wilkinson’s Astra Dance Company.

MARCH 2012

March, Wednesday 21 - Sunday 25, 2012

EVENT:
[D] Andrés Corchero Dance workshop “an intelligent and creative body” at Electric Lodge/Milwood Landing
(in Neighborhood of Venice, City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, State of California, USA, Earth)

TIME(S): 9am / 9:00 - 3pm / 15:00
DATE(S): March, Wednesday 21 - Sunday 25, 2012

DESCRIPTION
5 Days intensive workshop with Andrés Corchero

I propose developing a working standard to review the body and its mental structures to allow changes in perception of one’s own condition and the state of others.

I want to raise some questions that open the way to understand our bodies and our movement: As we move, what is stillness? Does it produce our movement? How do we feel? Can one read a body? enter the body? How did we perceive our bodies when we were children? How can we let the body think for itself?
